Matild Palace - the reflection of the Hungarian soul

The Matild Palace, which is part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, was built between 1899-1902 and has been an iconic epicenter of the elite and a Budapest landmark since the Belle Époque era. What makes the palace and thus the hotel special is its rich history and that despite the many renovations and refurbishments it went through throughout the last decades, the neobaroque building still holds its elegance.

After years of restoration, the Matild Palace - once known as the epicenter of the city - is about to reopen in March, 2021 as the first Luxury Collection hotel in Budapest.

In the Heart of the City

Matild Palace Hotel is located right in the heart of Budapest, only some meters from the popular shopping area, Váci Street. Additionally, the bank of the Danube River is one minute away on foot, while crossing the Elisabeth Bridge you get a wonderful view and a direct link to the Buda side. Other attractions and landmarks of Budapest such as the St. Stephen's Basilica, the State Opera House, the UNESCO Heritage Andrássy Avenue and the Hungarian Parliament are all easily reachable with a pleasant walk.

Luxurious surroundings with authentic experiences

The hotel features 130 guestrooms, including 18 suites, all presenting luxurious amenities combined with authenticity.

Maria Klotild Royal Suite:  The 150 sqm suite provides a unique view over the Danube River. It features a spacious bedroom, a living room, a table for 8 people, a study room, and a master bathroom with hand-made ceramics and gold touches. One reason why this suite is special is that it can be extended with two connected rooms creating a 3 bedroom apartment.

Crown Tower Suite:  The 76 sqm suite is located on the 5th floor of the hotel. A fun fact is that this is the first suite in Hungary partly within a 48-meter high tower, providing an amazing 360-degree view of the city and the Danube River.

Deluxe Room: Deluxe rooms offer the finest luxuries and modern technologies. Smart TV comes as a basic element and the spa-styled bathrooms, inspired by the traditional thermal baths of Hungary, and the Italian bathtubs designed for Matild Palace are some of the features that make the rooms special.

Loft Rooms:  The loft rooms are located on the top floor under the roof of the hotel, offering a beautiful view over the city. The 38-51 sqm rooms feature modern furniture mixed with vintage style.

First gastro street in Budapest - distinctive dining experiences

Matild Palace introduces the first gastronomic street of Budapest, a new dimension to the dining scene of the city.

The Gastro Street will be a street located by the Matild Palace and will provide direct access to different concepts. The terraces will feature year-round seating areas with lounges, bistro tables, a café setting and fireplaces.

The Duchess - The rooftop garden/bar: It was inspired by Arch Duchess Maria Klotild, who allegedly wanted the Palace to have a secret, hidden rooftop as a rendezvous for the Decadence Movement. The menu of the bar features a wide selection of cocktails and other beverages, while the live DJ set provides a pleasant vibe every evening.

Piac New Hungarian Food Hall: "Piac" means "market" in English. The mission of the restaurant is to make visitors familiar with the traditional Hungarian way of cooking, the Hungarian tastes and local products through retail displays, special show kitchens and food stalls.

Matild Café & Cabaret: A place for coffee and history lovers. The Café first opened its doors in 1901 and re-opened as the first café in Budapest after World War 2. The menu and the atmosphere change from day to night. While during the day the menu features coffee and pastries, at night the Hungarian and international cabaret shows turn Matild Café into a glamorous, exciting and lively place.

Duna Lounge & Bistro: A modern and casual bar in a laidback environment, on the ground floor of Matild Palace with a large terrace and an extensive drinks and shisha menu. It offers a streetfood style menu, which also reflects Hungarian traditions, incorporating unique and special Hungarian ingredients.
